The Unitarian Universalist Community on Campus

Welcome college students, young adults and recent graduates!

Campust MinistryHi Everyone! I'm Rachael Goss and I'm the new Campus Ministry Coordinator. I'm so excited to be a part of this community and to be serving young people in a spiritual capacity. I've spent the past 6 years working as an adjunct instructor in Sociology and Women's Studies at various universities here in Pittsburgh. I absolutely love teaching and feel that working with young adults is my life's calling. In addition to my academic work, I also teach yoga at Mookshi Wellness, above Biddle's Escape, in Regent Square every week.

Before moving to Pittsburgh, I lived in the oldest commune in America, located in central Virginia. I could tell you stories (and probably will) about my time living on a farm with 100 other people! I have a B.A. in world religions and a lifelong love affair with Buddhism, Neopaganism and just generally asking “the big questions.” I also have an M.A. in Sociology with a concentration in sexuality and social movements. I've done social service work and community organizing for Pennsylvanians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. I studied abroad in England for 2 summers at The Museum of Witchcraft and had a particular interest in sacred landscapes. It is with all of these experiences that I come to the work of Campus Ministry Coordinator.

While it may seem that my interests are a wide range and largely unrelated, they are all rooted in the exploration of the human experience. What does it mean to connect deeply with others? In what ways do we find meaning from our everyday lives? How can we use our talents and gifts to serve those who are less fortunate? Why are we alive?

I've previously worked as the Director of Religious Education of First UU in Indiana, PA years ago, and I'm so excited to reconnect with this part of my life. While I'm not new to the UU faith, this particular role of Campus Ministry Coordinator is new and exciting. I look forward to combining my love of spiritual seeking with my work with young adults. I can't wait to get to know you and hopefully work with you in the future.

The Unitarian Universalist Community on Campus (UUCC) meets on Monday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. throughout the school year at First Unitarian Church -- see the calendar below for details!  Learn more about Unitarian Universalism, make new meaningful friendships, get involved in community service and social action and be with a welcoming and supportive group of Pitt and CMU students.

The First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh also invites you to join us for regular Sunday services throughout the year. You will find like-minded people, stimulating programs, wonderful music and opportunities to become involved with the larger UU community.
