Believe it or not, First Unitarian Church is not the only Unitarian Universalist congregation! There are many other Unitarian Universalist congregations – about one thousand and fifty in the United States. We are stronger here at First Unitarian Church when we connect with other Unitarian Universalists! Fortunately, there are many ways that we can connect with the larger Unitarian Universalist community!

General Assembly is the annual gathering of thousands of Unitarian Universalists from throughout the United States. General Assembly includes worship gatherings, plenary sessions, workshops, presentations, and numerous opportunities for connecting with Unitarian Universalists from many places. General Assembly is inspiring, uplifting, restorative, hopeful, and informative. General Assembly takes place in a different city each year – and this year it will take place in Columbus, Ohio, just three and a half hours from Pittsburgh! We are hoping to have a large group from First Unitarian Church at General Assembly this year. The dates are June 22 to 26, 2016. Registration and housing reservations open up on March 1. Here is the General Assembly website: http://www.uua.org/ga.

Summer Institute is a spirit-filled week for Unitarian Universalists of all ages. You can attend worship gatherings, workshops, theme talks, choir rehearsals, social events, and much more. There are classes for children. There is a drum circle. There is a talent show. There are many opportunities to become acquainted with Unitarian Universalists from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and other places as well. This year, Summer Institute will take place from July 17 to 23, 2016. Registration details are available on the website, http://omdsi.org/.

District Assembly has been, for many years, an opportunity for leaders in our Ohio-Meadville District (which includes about forty-five congregations in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia) to gather for governance, worship, and workshops. This year, District Assembly will take place in Akron, Ohio, on Saturday, April 2. It will be a historic event, because the Ohio-Meadville District will be merging with three other Districts to create the Central East Region. Here is the website for District Assembly: http://www.ohiomeadville.org/districtassembly.

Cluster Assembly takes place on the first Saturday in November, and it provides an opportunity for representatives of the Pittsburgh-area Unitarian Universalist congregations to build stronger bonds. Member congregations in our Cluster include First Unitarian Church; the Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church; the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills; the Unitarian Universalist Church of the South Hills; the East Suburban Unitarian Universalist Church in Murrysville, PA; the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Indiana, PA; the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Ligonier Valley in Ligonier, PA; the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Smithton, PA; the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Morgantown, WV; the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Ohio Valley in St. Clairsville, OH; and the Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Slippery Rock, PA. Our Cluster has its own website, http://uupittsburgh.org/, its own Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/UUPittsburgh/, and its own MeetUp page, http://www.meetup.com/UUPittsburgh/.

The Annual Meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Pennsylvania Legislative Advocacy Network (UUPLAN) takes place each year in November. UUPLAN coordinates our Unitarian Universalist presence at the state capitol in Harrisburg. You can learn more about the work of UUPLAN at their website: http://www.uuplan.com/.

If you would like to serve as a delegate for General Assembly, District Assembly, or Cluster Assembly, please send email to our Board President, Kathy Parker, at krparker.4487@gmail.com, or to me at dherndon@first-unitarian-pgh.org.

See you in Church – or maybe at some Unitarian Universalist event!
