On January 8, more than 30 people met at First Unitarian Church in Pittsburgh to break bread and engage in political action. All are welcome at our monthly Second Sunday Political Action Potluck, where we 1) share a potluck dinner and enjoy each other’s company, and 2) contact our elected officials to share our opinions on important matters. This month’s focus included education, electoral reform, and civil rights. More than 130 letters, postcards and personal phone calls went out to federal and state legislators.
In addition to letters, emails, and blogging, many attendees took part in the national Pussyhat Project by sewing pink hats with pussycat ears for the Women’s March in Washington, DC, on January 21. The Pussyhat Project aims to provide participants in the Women’s March with a means to make a powerful visual statement of their movement’s size and strength. Over 40 hats were sewn on Sunday evening, and a total of 135 from First UU will be delivered to marchers for the post-inaugural event.Learn more at the Pussyhat Project at www.PussyhatProject.com
