Help Shape our Future - You're Invited to Our Small Group Discussions!

To help the Board assure that First Unitarian Church is directing our human and financial resources toward actions that simultaneously embody our living mission and reflect the passions of our congregation, we invite you to join a small group conversation to address the following questions. Our newly modified mission statement reflecting congregational responses from spring 2017 is listed here for reference.   1. In which areas of our mission are you currently engaged? What are you actively involved in at First Unitarian Church?
  2. What activities currently in place at First Unitarian would you LIKE to be involved in? What keeps you from getting involved?
  3. Is there any activity in which you would be excited to get involved that First Unitarian does not now host or support?
  4. What would you like First Unitarian Church to be known for? How would you like the Pittsburgh community to complete the following sentence:

Connect:
We connect deeply in community by purposefully and regularly...
  • engaging with each other through challenging conversation
  • opening our doors and our minds to people with diverse viewpoints
  • sharing our activities with each other and with the local community

We inspire reverence and spiritual growth by consciously....
  • bridging differences in theological perspective, cultural or racial background, age or stage in life, and ability in our worship services
  • providing church members and friends opportunities to participate in worship
  • weaving together multiple modes of communication through the use of a multi-sensory approach to worship
Serve:
We serve each other, our local community, and the world by religiously. . .
  • providing support to those experiencing hardship or distress
  • working for social justice by standing on the side of Love
  • being active stewards of our environment
Learn:
We pursue lifelong learning together by actively…
  • providing thought-provoking learning experiences for all ages
  • encouraging respectful exploration and discussion of multi-faceted issues
