Board of Trustees
Our primary purpose as a Board is to inspire, direct, and hold accountable the Ministers and ourselves through the broad written policies we have established that reflect Unitarian Universalist values and perspectives. The Board must ensure that all divergent views are considered, yet it must resolve into a single organizational position on any issue.
Trustees
Trustees are elected for three-year terms, with three new members being elected each year to replace the three who will be completing their terms. Nominations are made by the Nominating Committee co-chaired by Alice Lieb (2019) and Becky Studer (2021).

Governance and Policy Documents
First Unitarian Church uses a modified version of Policy Governance, which means the Board of Trustees indicates the outcomes it would like to see, and then delegates day-to-day ministry responsibility and authority to the Senior Minister, who further delegates responsibility and authority to ministry team groups.
Not all of our policies are available online. The Board is reviewing them and they will be posted as available.

Congregational Meetings
The Board of Trustees holds an Annual Meeting and Budget Meeting once a year, and special meetings as needed. The Annual Meeting is usually scheduled in May. The Budget Meeting is usually scheduled in December. The agendas for the meetings are determined by the Board of Trustees.
