Let me begin by saying that Rev. Connie, the Board, and I recognize that some members of our congregation are dealing with reduced pay, no pay, or layoffs in addition to all of the social stresses of this pandemic. If that applies to you, please don't worry about pledge payments until your finances recover. Nor need you take precious time to email me about suspending your donation, unless you need my help to stop or reduce an automatic payment. If so, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those of us with the good fortune of a continuing income, if your practice has been to put your donation or pledge payment in the Sunday collection plate, welcome to the virtual collection plate! You can still donate in one of the following ways:
Please also consider making an extra contribution to Marion's Purse / Minister's Benevolence Fund so Rev. Connie is able provide some support for congregants with financial emergencies.
Thank you for your continued generosity in these challenging times.

By default, online donations go to the General Fund for church operating expenses. By selecting the fund drop down, you can also donate to other funds such as Share the Plate or Marion's Purse/ Minister's Benevolence Fund. Donations are associated with you, appear in your giving record in Breeze, and charitable donations will appear on your giving statement.
When giving online through the church's web page, you have the option of charging your credit/debit card or making an electronic debit (ACH Bank Transfer) from your checking account. While entering credit/debit card information is familiar, the form will display a graphic of a check to direct you to the bank routing and account information needed for an ACH bank transfer. Please be aware that while your giving statement will show the full amount of your donation, the amount received by the church is reduced by a fee. This is a small fixed amount plus 1% for an ACH bank transfer or 2.9% for a credit/debit card. If you give weekly, please consider giving monthly to reduce the amount paid in fees.
By default, your donation will be a one time gift. If you would prefer to have the payment recur automatically, select a period from the drop down. This will also allow you to pick a start date.
If you set up a recurring donation or intend to continue making regular one time gifts, I encourage you to create an account on the church's Breeze web site, if you have not already done so. This is the same account that is used to access the online directory. For recurring gifts, you can modify or delete future donations. If you are making one time gifts, you can make additional donations without having to reenter all the payment information each time. Breeze is able to save multiple checking accounts or credit/debit cards if you need those options. To restrict who creates Breeze accounts, the church will need to send you an invitation to create the account. Invitations are being sent out today, 3/20/2020. If you did not receive one, please send a message to me at email@example.com.
Texting Donations from a Smart Phone
There is a saying that the first time is the hardest, and that surely applies to texting donations from your smart phone. The first time you will need to enter your payment information in the web browser on your phone via a link that is texted to you. On subsequent donations, Breeze will remember the payment information associated with your phone number and use it automatically.
You can change the payment information at any time by texting "update" or remove the association by texting "unlink". To see a list of all the available commands, text "commands". You will receive a confirmation message at the email address you included with your payment information. Donations are associated with you, appear in your giving record in Breeze, and charitable donations will appear on your giving statement.
Your payment options are the same as for online giving: credit/debit card or ACH bank transfer from your checking account. The fees are also the same.
In addition to the amount you wish to donate, you can also specify a fund. Say you are donating $20, then your options are:
Other Giving Options
In addition to personally writing a check and mailing it to the church, many banks now offer an recurring bill payment option whereby the bank will automatically mail a check as you specify, typically monthly. There is no charge to the church and often your bank will offer this service for free or for a small fee. Please check with your bank for more information.
