DESCRIPTION:The Diabetes Prevention Program and its Outcome Today\n\nThe Sp
 eaker: Elsa S. Strotmeyer\, PhD\, MPH\, is Professor and Executive Vice Ch
 air in the Department of Epidemiology\, School of Public Health at the Uni
 versity of Pittsburgh. She is the Co-Director of the Center for Aging and 
 Population Health. Dr Strotmeyer is also Leader\, in the Research Educatio
 n Component of the Claude D. Pepper Center and Director of the NIH/NIA T32
  Epidemiology of Aging Training Program.\n\nPresentation: The Diabetes Pre
 vention Program is a 30-year ongoing study\, the results of which have cha
 nged the way physicians treat patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes. By 
 2060\, the number of adults diagnosed with diabetes is expected to nearly 
 triple. Dr. Strotmeyer will discuss factors that influence the prevention 
 or delay of a diabetes diagnosis. She will also identify complications tha
 t can result from this disease as people age.\n\nSchweitzer room
