UU Christian Fellowship
"We covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; a free and responsible search for truth and meaning…"
In the SPIRIT of our first four UU principles, we invite interested UUs to the first meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship (UUCF).
The UUCF INTENT is to provide a respectful, stimulating weekly forum in which any UU, but especially those who identify themselves within the Christian realm of our diverse faith spectrum, may 1) reclaim valued aspects of their Christian heritage; 2) deepen their understanding of the Christian story with the aid of UUA and other resources; 3) share and explore Christian practices that may contribute to their well-being and spiritual formation; and 4) clarify their personal faith convictions to-date. We’ll begin by sharing our individual spiritual journeys to Unitarian Universalism and what drew us to the UUCF meeting.
CONTENT for subsequent weekly discussions (per group input) may include sermons, essays or books by past and present UU-Christian leaders; UUCF discussion guides; historic exploration of our UU Christian roots; and contemplation from a UU perspective of Christian parables and wisdom literature. We will embrace group COVENANTS of preparedness; equal opportunity sharing; and respectful, compassionate listening, among other agreements we may collectively discern as vital for healthy group functioning. All UUs are welcome; however, our resolute purpose is a responsible inquiry of Christianity in order to glean from that tradition whatever we may find of personal value in aspiring toward our highest selves.
UUCF meets every Sunday from 9:00 - 10:00am in the Semple Room. Leadership and facilitation is shared between the members. Newcomers and walk-ins are welcome.
