Grant from Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation

About the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation (PHLF) sign that’s been erected at the bottom of the steps leading to the Morewood entrance:

The church successfully applied for a grant from the PHLF that will cover 50% of the cost of repairing disintegrating mortar on the Morewood steps. One of the conditions of receiving the grant is that we display the sign acknowledging PHLF financial support.

The PHLF grant program supports exterior restoration projects at “architecturally significant historic religious properties that also provide social services to surrounding communities.”

Grant recipients are required to match the grant. We will be raising the matching funds as part of our upcoming capital campaign.

Weather permitting, the repair work on the Morewood steps will be done the week of May 13.

The Building Committee thanks Eleanor Mayfield for shepherding the successful submission of the grant application to the PHLF.
