“Where can I go?”

Livestreamed at 10:30 am

Homelessness is on the rise. As rent prices soar and the cost of living continues to get out of hand, more and more individuals and families find themselves asking, “Where can I go?”.

Our New Intern Minister

“I am delighted to share the news with our whole community that we will have a ministerial intern beginning August 19. Mac Perkins-High will be with us full time for nine months and is moving from the Boston area. Mac, using he/they pronouns, has provided a short introduction below. The funding for this internship comes from a variety of sources, including a 50% matching grant from the UUA, our own Endowment and some unused funds. After Mac arrives, we will develop a Learning-Service Agreement, specifying what areas Mac needs/wants to focus on. In August, please help me welcome Mac into our community.” Cheers, Rev. July’s Share the Plate Recipient

The July 2024 Share the Plate charity recipient is “Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania (PPWP)” . “Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania’s  mission is to provide high-quality reproductive health care services, sexuality education, and strategic advocacy. We believe in the fundamental right of individuals to manage their fertility and their sexual and reproductive health without regard to income, marital status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, national origin, or residence. PPWP believes that sexual and reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual’s right to privacy. We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being and that of our clients.”

Pillowcases for Children’s Hospital

You may have already seen the pillow cases hanging in the Sanctuary and in the Udercroft Gallery. They are on there way to Children’s Hospital in August. The Women’s Alliance Sewing Circle has made more thaan 100 pillow cases this year. The group is considering renaming itself the PIllow Case Brigade.  We have used up most of the accumulated fabric for pillow cases and need to acquire more for the coming year. If you would like to contribute to our fabric pool, we will have a box in the Undercroft for donations on the remaining Sundays in July.
