“Born on the Water” is a picture book adaptation of the Pulizter Prize winning 1619 Project by journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones. We explore this historical origin story centering the African American experience and contribution to the founding of our national identity in three parts. Music and the lighting of the kinara candles are woven throughout the story in celebration of Kwanzaa, a uniquely American holiday
