UU the VOTE PA!

It is time to get started on our work as Election Influencers! For up-to-date information, go to UUJusticePA, UU the VOTE. We anticipate we will be working with PIIN – Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network, PAUNITED, The New Pennsylvania Project, and Vote Forward here in W PA.

We will soon be getting information from our PA organizer, Sharee Clark, about the activities of these partner organizations. Meanwhile, you can Write Letters to Voters! from wherever you are with Vote Forward. Writing letters to voters is one of the most effective ways to help increase election turnout. And you can do it right from home! You will have the opportunity to choose your campaign, and Pennsylvania is on the list! Learn more and Get started here.

In keeping with our congregational decision in May to focus on Climate Justice, we can also work with the Environmental Voter Project. Check their site for background on their approach and the importance of what you can do through their outreach options. As a heads up, they will be Phone Banking into PA on September 17 at 2 PM and September 19 at 6 pm. Register here for the 17th and here for the 19th. They also have opportunities for Postcarding and Canvassing if you are so inclined.

There are also opportunities for you to PROTECT THE VOTE and Stop Voter Suppression on election day! Become a Poll Worker: Get connected to our Allegheny County Election and become a paid poll worker. These are usually full day assignments, and it is important to have non-partisan folks holding these positions to protect everyone’s right to vote.

If you cannot volunteer for all of Nov. 8, you can still volunteer through a Common Cause Election Protection program; If you agree that every eligible voter deserves to have their voice count, you can take action from home or in person by serving as a nonpartisan Election Protection volunteer. Get involved in your community by supporting early voting locations, ensuring technology functions, and helping minimize long lines and delays at polling places on Election Day. These are usually shifts of a few hours on election day and are important to assure free and fair elections.

Learn more and sign up.

That’s all for now. More opportunities coming soon.
