Capital Campaign

Your Capital Campaign dollars are at work. Take a look at the beautifully restored kitchen floors! Thanks to the generosity of everyone who supported our Capital Campaign, the kitchen floors have been professionally cleaned, stripped, and waxed, giving the space a fresh new look.

The project also provided an unexpected bonus. With everything temporarily removed from the kitchen, we had the opportunity to rethink how items are organized and stored. A cleaner, more efficient kitchen will make life easier for everyone who uses this important space.

Special thanks to our sexton, Dan Laity, who went above and beyond to move equipment and supplies before the work began and helped make the project possible.

Additional thanks to Jan Harrison, Paul Flanagan, and Jean Schmidt, who gave up part of their Saturday to help put everything back together and reorganize the kitchen. Their hard work and thoughtful ideas have helped make our kitchen even more functional for the many ministries and groups that depend on it.

Thank you to everyone whose generosity and volunteer spirit continue to strengthen our church community. The Undercoft Gallery floors are next!

Other Capital Campaign Updates

Thanks to the generosity of our congregation, several Capital Campaign projects have already been completed, including the installation of sanctuary screens and LED lighting, the cleaning and restoration of the basement tile floors, and the installation of new carpeting in the Religious Education wing.

Two major projects are scheduled for this summer.

Garden Renovation – Beginning in Early August
Work will begin on an exciting transformation of our garden space. A larger and more welcoming patio will be created outside the Schweitzer Room, and the two existing lawn sections will be combined and leveled to provide a beautiful space for fellowship and gathering. Because of construction, the garden area will be closed for most, and possibly all, of August. The accessible entrance will remain available on Sundays, but weekday access through that entrance may be limited while work is underway.

Exterior Wood Painting – Early September
In September, all exterior wood surfaces of the church will be refreshed, including window trim and church doors. This work will help preserve and enhance the beauty of our building for years to come.

Looking ahead to 2027, the major Capital Campaign projects planned for next year are the restoration of the Ellsworth Avenue steps and the installation of a new walkway from the corner of Ellsworth and Morewood to the Garden Lobby entrance, improving both accessibility and appearance.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we invest in the care and future of our church home.
