Qiyam Ansari is an Environmental Justice organizer who supports grassroots efforts to improve air quality issues in the Mon Valley. His work has included grant writing, community organizing, and community education with many partners in the Mon Valley. Mr. Ansari oversees the articulation and implementation of Pennsylvania’s Environmental Rights Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution and says, “The people have a right to clean air.”

Tom Bailey 

VCAN Secretary 

Tom Bailey is a retired public school teacher and practicing lawyer who supports grassroots efforts to improve air quality issues. His work includes speaking on behalf of the organization, taking minutes, and doing outreach for the organization. Tom lives in Penn Hills, and is passionate about holding polluters responsible for the harms they cause.

Air quality, both indoor and outdoor, is a significant public health emergency in our Mon Valley region, and VCAN, a community-led organization dedicated to making the policy and systemic changes that our residents deserve, have the power to cause lasting change in this regard, given the proper resources and given the patience and power of agency and time.
