“The idea for the Three Rivers Song Collective probably happened because of Pittsburghers listening to me singing songs about Cincinnati, Kansas, Montreal, or France and asking ‘When are you going to write some songs about Pittsburgh?’’” says organizer and singer/songwriter Christopher Mark Jones. “The Collective grew beyond those humble beginnings to include six accomplished songwriters who defined our goal as ‘the writing and performance of new songs oriented toward below-the-surface portrayals of current or former aspects of life in the Pittsburgh region’, though we eventually dusted off a few from our collective repertory and included a few covers.”
