First Unitarian Church’s Share the Plate recipient for the Month of February is the Afro-American Music Institute.

The Afro-American Music Institute, located on Hamilton Avenue in Homewood,  has provided musical programs of excellence since 1982, under the guidance and tutelage of James and Pamela Johnson. 

They seek to offer specialized instrumental and vocal training in all styles of African-American music for all age groups.  A special emphasis is made for programming for children and young adults.  There are music classes and ensembles including a boys choir. 

 AAMI also has a monthly “Jazz on the Loading Dock” concert series that is open to the public.  Follow this link to a video about AAMI!
