Making a planned gift to First Unitarian demonstrates your commitment to the long-term vision of our church, and ensures that your commitment to our values will be remembered forever. Already planned a gift? Tell us about it!

We may also be able to receive other forms of donations. Please contact finance@first-unitarian-pgh.org if you’re interested in donating any of the following:

Naming First Unitarian in Your Plans

Include specific language in your planning document, such as your will or trust, that ensures whoever administers your gift will clearly understand it should go to First Unitarian Church. The easiest way to do this is to include this wording when specifying the recipient of your gift:

“First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, located at 605 Morewood Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15213 and with federal tax identification number 25-0979357″.

Also, be sure to include information such as:

  • How much you want to contribute
  • Whether the gift has any restrictions or is unrestricted (see next section)
  • What asset your donation will come from, such as cash, stock, annuity, real estate, etc.

Gift Restrictions

You can make an unrestricted gift that the church will use however it judges best. Unrestricted gifts are the best option. The needs of the church can change significantly between when you plan your gift and when it is spent.

However, you can also make a restricted gift for one or more limited purposes. If you are planning to make a restricted gift, it’s best to discuss your plans with the Treasurer to determine if the church will be able to honor your wishes in the way you intend. For example, if you plan a gift to a program that no longer exists by the time of your death, it may be hard to fully honor your wishes. Rest assured, though, that the church will do its best to comply with your restrictions.

Living Gifts

While most people think of making a planned gift for after their death, you can also plan a gift to be distributed partially or completely during your life. Contact us for details.
