Share the Plate for September is The A. Philip Randolph Institute
Philip Randolph Institute’s “Breaking the Chains of Poverty” program, designed to help participants build the skills necessary to obtain a family-sustaining career in the local building and construction trade unions, manufacturing industries and emerging energy sector. A. Philip Randolph (1889-1979) was a labor unionist and civil rights activist, as well as an early organizer for African American workers’ rights. Randolph believed well paying jobs were passports to human rights. The A. Philip Randolph Institute, an organization of Black Trade Unionists who fight for racial equity and economic justice, was founded by Randolph and Bayard Rustin in 1965.
