“Goodnight Sun”

Livestreamed at 10:30 am As the sun has been easing onto the horizon, in this multigenerational worship, we finally welcome darkness as a time to rest and to play with images of transformation.  Our Theme of the Month, Myths and Symbols, offers many insights into what can be found in the space where the sun disappears … Continue reading “Goodnight Sun”

December Share the Plate is East End Cooperative Ministry

EAST END COOPERATIVE MINISTRY Founded in 1970, East End Cooperative Ministry serves thousands of individuals and families in the Pittsburgh region. Through three essential programs, Community Food Services (CFS), Housing and Employment Services (HES), and Children and Youth Services (CYS). East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) was founded in response to changes in the East End community, born when local faith communities recognized that the troubles of the community were too great for any one of them to address alone. EECM was initially envisioned to serve the young, the elderly, and the poor of the area, as well as to promote interfaith events. Throughout its 55 years, EECM has continued to respond to changing community needs through its many programs and services.

Capital Campaign Launch: Warming Our Welcome, Brightening Our Future

In 2025 we launched an exciting campaign to make our church more welcoming, accessible, and sustainable. Planned improvements include energy-efficient heating and cooling, upgraded lighting and sound, a modern video system, outdoor enhancements, and a long-term endowment. We invite every member to get involved. Learn more.

New Mural in Church Hallway

Mural of 7 Values of Unitarian Universalism
Wall Mural in the Mason Wing, created by Mary Weidner
Here is Mary’s description of the mural: Love is at the center, in the form of a brightly lit Chalice, the symbol of our faith.  Surrounding images depict the Values: Equity raises up those who otherwise might not see or have access.  Hands are joined as multi-hued children invite others in. Interdependence is a web, wherein all forms of life need others to thrive and survive.  What our indigenous brothers and sisters have long  known, ecology now teaches us, anew. Justice may be uncertain, but the arc of the moral universe bends in its direction.  With our efforts. Generosity reveals itself in the giving of our love, our hands, our time, our food. Transformation can occur in caterpillars to butterflies, and for all of us, throughout our lives. Pluralism: We learn from many religious traditions and respect a diversity of people and ideas.
